Product Overview

More than a decade ago, Hunter Douglas created a marvelous new window covering called Duette® honeycomb shades. There are hundreds of beautiful color choices in a variety of pleat sizes to complement any decor. Fabrics that offer distinct degrees of privacy and light shading, from sheer for a room filled with light, to opaque for complete light control and privacy. The Originals Collection™ -- offers more fabrics, pleat sizes, cell configurations, light control options, colors and design options than any other honeycomb product.

The Originals Collection™ -- offers more fabrics, pleat sizes, cell configurations, light control options, colors and design options than any other honeycomb product.

The patented honeycomb construction ensures lasting strength and durability, superior performance, easy maintenance, plus the best selection of design options for covering almost any window.

A cellular shade is an improvement in design and insulation value over its sister, the pleated shade. The cellular shade is comprised of at least two layers of fabric that form a cell or honeycomb. This design improves the traditional pleated shade substantially. The improvements are as follows:

  1. The cord is hidden inside the shade. It is no longer visible like a pleated shade.

  2. The pleat retention is enhanced dramatically, therefore sagging is not as evident.

  3. The cell design creates a barrier of air between the room and the window. This insulation blocks heat, cold and noise. It is the best insulation besides shutter.

  4. The fabrics are available in wider widths, so seams are not necessary to cover larger windows.

  5. Most cellular shades are made from 100% polyester, which allows the shade to be easily cleaned and resists stains and fading.

  6. The edges of the shade do not fray.

  7. There is a wide variety of pleat sizes - 3/8", 1/2", 3/4" and 1"

  8. The blackout material blocks out more light because of the absence of cord holes in the shade.

  9. White backing provides a uniform appearance to the outside.

  10. Variety of control options:
    a. cord pull
    b. top down/bottom up
    c. easy rise - continuous pull cord
    d. easy lift - retractable pull cord
    e. cordless control - lift with finger tips
    f. power rise - battery operated shade with remote
    g. electrically operated - hard wired electrical motorized shade

  11. Specialty shapes - i.e. arch, rake, trapezoid, hexagon, etc.

  12. Skylight and curved solar application

  13. Vertiglide - cellular shade turned on its side so its slides left or right like a vertical blind. Stacks in 6" of space no matter how wide. The Vertiglide can be made up to 34 feet wide.

  14. Duo-light - two shades in one (sheer fabric and opaque)
